Been on that flight a few times.

Don't know what HGR means but that flight normally leaves from on the the A gates near the center of the concourse ..high 30 / low 40. SB no prob connecting from PHX if that is the plan.

Hope this is helpful, have a great trip.

Looks like the flight is late and the a/c is likely in the hanger for maintenance. You will definitely depart from the A concourse, but the plane has to leave the hanger (hgr) first.

It was A 38 A yesterday. I have a 3' 08" layover in DTW, so it should not be a problem. On to Istanbul from AMS though with a 2 hour layover, but I always am on edge with these multi city connections! Fingers crossed...

If flight 67 is any factor, it is scheduled to arrive early at gate A 40:

Sorry remedy... I read the flightinfo wrong at a glance and your flight is no actually late. The plane for 68 tonight was likely an overnighter at the hanger and has yet to receive a gate assignment. Enjoy your trip.

HGR = Hanger

This will display as a gate assignment, when the aircraft assigned to operate the flight is at the hanger and hasn't yet been assigned a departure gate at the terminal.

You will typically see this the day prior to the flight, but I've seen this up to an hour before the flight.

This happens a lot in DTW will often have a 744 and A330 remain overnight for maintenance and they are often pulled to the hanger. XJ does this too, as they pull a few Saabs & CR9 over to the hanger every night.

In LGA, you will often see flights with gates of 'NWA' This means they haven't done the gate assignments as well.

Just the word "maintenance" makes me nervous (...we have a "mechanical."). On a postive note, there is a A 330 at gate A 56 (in the DL livery () that should be ready to go!

Don't be alarmed by the term maintenance. Do you do preventative Mx on your car? Well, airlines certainly do preventative Mx on their planes. There is a whole schedule for Mx that many don't see, even the crews. People in SOC (systems operations control) get a schedule from the Mx planners and they route planes accordingly so that they end up in a Mx facility in time to comply with the Mx program. This is why an a/c change for other operational reasons is sometimes impossible, regardless of how obviously simple it
might be to the passengers and crew. Further, this is also why when you see a flight delayed "due to non scheduled Mx" it's just that. Mx that wasn't scheduled.

I think I'd be more nervous if the plane DIDN'T go in for maintenance - especially over the Atlantic!!

Agree! Did not mean to understate the value of preventive maintenance!
